Earlier this year I joined a group of talented wedding professionals to experience Belmond’s newest property in Riviera Maya: Belmond Maroma. Situated on the edge of the jungle where the Caribbean waves break on white sand, the newly-renovated hotel is a jewel among the resorts dotting the Riviera. The property is large (200 acres) but the lodgings are not sprawling. While many resorts in the Riviera Maya offer bikes and ongoing golf cart services to take you from your room to dining areas and pools, Belmond Maroma keeps everything close and within easy walking distance. Practically speaking, this isn’t just a simple convenience. When you’re trying to look your best and keep your hair/makeup from sweating out (we are in the Mexican jungle after all), taking a few steps rather than biking or waiting for a golf cart service to transport you around the property is an important consideration.

The Executive Chef is dedicated to sustainable fishing, and the kitchens purchase and cultivate local ingredients (this also extends to the bar, whose mixologists make mixers from local ingredients).

Any wedding in this part of Mexico is going to be beautiful; there’s no question that Riviera Maya is one of the most picturesque and magical parts of the world.
